The colours that suit you best are determined by your natural colouring, including your skin tone, hair, and eye colour. Through personal colour analysis, we identify whether you are best suited to warm or cool tones, as well as the depth (light to dark) and clarity (soft or bright) that enhances your features. Once your personal colour palette is determined, it provides a guide to the shades that naturally complement you and make your complexion appear more balanced and harmonious. This takes the guesswork out of choosing clothing colours and helps you build a wardrobe that consistently flatters you.  

It can be difficult to determine whether someone suits warm or cool colours without seeing them in person. However, as a general guide, people with naturally warm features, such as red, orange, honey, or strawberry-toned hair, orange or warm freckles, or a naturally warm overall glow are often best suited to warm colours. In contrast, those with cooler-toned hair, such as ash blonde or mouse brown, brown, cooler skin tones and taupe or brown freckles, are often better suited to cool colours.

A common misconception is that people of Asian or Indian heritage automatically suit warm colours because their skin may appear warm. However, colour analysis is not based on the surface appearance of skin tone alone. Instead, it focuses on what makes the complexion look its most balanced, clear, and harmonious - regardless of ethnicity or perceived undertone.

Online personal colour analysis is harder to determine, as we do not see the subtleties of what happens to your skin when you drape someone in person. In saying that, we have spent months perfecting our system to make sure we get the same accurate results. Our process involves filling out a comprehensive questionnaire, following a complete guide on how to take accurate photos, as well as sending you out colour cards to photograph next to your face, so we can determine whether you are suited to warm or cool colours. It does involve a bit more work to get an accurate reading, however we have found that it does provide the same accurate result as doing the consultation in person.

AI-generated personal colour analysis can be a helpful starting point, but it is not as accurate or personalised as an in-person consultation using draping techniques. While AI can assess general features from photos, such as skin tone, hair colour, and eye colour, it cannot reliably account for factors like lighting, camera quality, makeup, or subtle undertones that are best seen in natural light and in-person. For this reason, AI results should be viewed as a guide rather than a definitive diagnosis. A professional colour analysis conducted with physical drapes provides a more precise and tailored result, ensuring your final colour palette truly enhances your natural features.

I have also tested AI by uploading photos of myself and loved ones to check to see if AI had the same outcome as my results and only one of them was correct - which was the most obvious one. The truth is if you get your colours done by AI, then you are never really going to be 100% sure if they are correct and may still be left second guessing yourself when you go out shopping for clothes.

A Personal Colour Analysis costs $350 per person for an in-person colour consultation, which includes your personal colour swatchbook to take shopping with you.

An On-Line Personal Colour Analysis costs AUD $300 per person, which includes your personal colour swatch book to take shopping with you (swatchbooks will be posted out to you after your consultation).

It may seem expensive to some but if you think about the cost of a hairdressing appointment, or cost to get your eyelashes or spray tan done which only last a short time, then you can see why $350 is worth the investment as a personal colour analysis can last for decades. It's not until your colours start to fade when you age or you feel like the colours are no longer suiting that you might need to be reassessed.

As you age, subtle changes such as lighter eye colour, softer natural contrast, or a gentler overall appearance may mean your original palette benefits from slight adjustments. In these cases, your colours may be refined to become softer or more muted, ensuring they continue to complement your features and enhance your natural appearance, rather than overpower it.

Yes, one of the biggest benefits of colour analysis is creating a cohesive wardrobe. The colour profile that you receive is broken down into sections:
Business Neutrals, Pastels, Wardrobe Basics and My Best Colours.

The colours in the "Business Neutrals" and "Wardrobe Basics" are what you would use to build your core wardrobe foundation - the more expensive, investment pieces such as jackets, skirts, pants etc. that will stay in your wardrobe for a long time. The "Pastel" colours are used for blouses, or t-shirts and then the "My Best Colours" section is used to add fun and interest to your wardrobe with seasonal colours that change from year to year and can be used to buy items such as tops, blouses, dresses, pants etc.

I use the Definitive Colour System, which was designed by Evelyn Lundstrom of First Impressions Image Consultancy. It is recognised as one of the most accurate and effective methods available. The system is broken down into 15 colour directions, 7 cool colour profiles and 8 warm colour profiles making it much more accurate to place clients into their correct colour profile. Below is a breakdown of this new and improved system:

Yes the Definitive Colour system does transfer across to the seasonal colour systems. After you have received your personal colour analysis you will receive a personal colour report which will specify what season you are in relation to the other colour systems available.

The seasonal colour analysis system was introduced in the publication of "Color Me Beautiful" (1980) by Carole Jackson. This book popularised the concept of categorising people's natural colouring into one of four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each season corresponds to a specific palette of colours that complement an individual's skin tone, hair, and eye color. There are two warm colour palettes in this system and two cool ones. The colours for each season:
Spring: Light, Warm and Clear
Autumn: Deep, Warm and Muted
Winter: Deep, Cool and Clear
Summer, Cool, Light and Muted
However because there are only four colour directions in this season - many people fell through the gaps and didn't fit squarely into a season - meaning that many people didn't feel like they got their correct colours.

The goal is to give you clarity and confidence in your style choices.

We work through a series of drapes to work out which colours make you look your best. The first step is to work out what skin tone you have - whether you are more suited to warm or cool colours. We do this by testing silver versus gold draping, and then warm versus cool draping in the neutrals collars. Then once we have worked out whether you are suited to warm or cool colours - we then work out how light, dark, clear, bright or muted we can go by assessing your overall look taking into consideration your eye, skin and hair colour. All of the colours for each profile is on the one colour - so there is no time wasted flicking through individual colours. Once we have chosen your unique colour profile, we then go through and work out your best signature colours and which colours are best near your face and body and which ones should just be worn as an accent colour or in a pattern. After we have worked through your colour profiles - we then go through your best make-up colours.

Yes. Sometimes people suit two colour profiles. When this happens - all of the colours in both of the Personal Colour Swatch Books are fanned out - so you can see all of the colours in the swatch books and the client is given the opportunity to pick which colour profile they feel most drawn to.

Full payment will be required on the day via cash, eftpos or via bank transfer.

Clients are welcome to reschedule up to 24 hours prior to their appointment. However we charge a 20% fee for any clients who cancel on the day.

Clients can wear something comfortable on the day. You will be draped in a white coat whilst you are being assessed so your colours so we can get an accurate colour reading.

Clients shouldn't wear foundation, blush or concealer or lipstick on the day. No make-up is best - however it is fine for clients to wear some mascara if they would prefer. Clients are welcome to apply their own make-up before leaving the studio if they like.

Please do not wear fake tan to your appointment, as we need to be able to see your natural skin tone and colouring to be able to give you an accurate colour assessment.

I'm not a make-up artist so I don't apply make-up to my clients skin. However as part of your colour analysis, we will go over what make-up colours suit you and you will be shown how to select the right colours for yourself. Clients are welcome to apply the colours themselves if they want to try different colours.

Yes, absolutely! While the majority of our clients are women, we also love helping men discover the colours that suit them best. Supporting men in building confidence through style is something we're passionate about—because we believe everyone deserves to love how they look and feel.

Berowra Heights is only a 45 to 60 minute drive away from Sydney - depending on traffic. It's only a short 15 to 20 minute drive from Wahroonga. And a 40 minute drive from Gosford. It's very easy to get to and I have a beautiful purpose built colour studio, which is private, relaxed and safe. Clients are welcome to catch the train to Berowra and I can organise a pick-up if you prefer not to drive. Please message me if you would like this service for an additional fee.
